Hensley Hitch Warranty?

I remember when he first posted about his failure on this forum but his pictures no longer show up so I have found another post about it
and don't think neglect was involved at all.

According to this post, he ran it by Hensley before using the hitch and they said that their hitch would work for his tongue weight. That is most likely the reason they were willing to cover his loss and why he expected them to do so.

I agree with you that failures of the hitch are rare. I have had mine for quite a few years now and have had no problems at all.

Being an original owner I have switched out the hitch bar 5 times due to either TV or TT change, Had the parts kit. Never had anything else go wrong with it. $1300 for fully warranty hitch is not a bad deal.

The warranty is a good decision. the HA is a good hitch but is is not 100% fool proof or fail proof. Over the years I used the warranty a few times.
The HA is an expensive contraption. Buying an HA one part at a time is also expensive. You will get your monies worth.

I bought the hitch used for $800. I figure that if I spend the money on the warranty it will be like getting buying it for $1300 a price I was willing to pay. So I am going to get the warranty, time will tell if it was a good or bad decision hopefully it was a good one.

That was actually within the weights Hensley tested the hitch with, however they apparently stuck to highways on their tests. I took mine through dessert washes and even down Kane Creek canyon jeep trail in Moab. Combination of extreme tongue weight and rough terrain conditions did a good number on it.

So... my failures are not at all common, but I have seen occasional posts from others with more modest failures, such as cracked welds in the hitch head, bent mount for the bar-jacks, broken jacks. I've also seen 1 or 2 people complain about bent strut bars, (which held up fine on mine).

I'm going to assume our not the original owner as they get lifetime free of charge. If you are then they need to honor it without additional expense to you.

Interesting, I did not know Hensley/Propride couldn't handle some trailers. How big is/was your trailer?

BTW - Hensley honored my warranty without hassle. We mutually agreed that my trailer was just too big for the hitch, and they sent a truck to pick up broken hitch and refunded my purchase. While it wasn't the right product for me, they do have excellent customer service.
