Seems harsh. Maybe some other dangerous drivers read here, they decide to drive a little more safely, and someone's family doesn't get killed (maybe yours). But you're right. Computer memory is so expensive today this was a horrible waste of it.

Oh your right! I'm pretty sure the next guy that goes speeding down the highway on a raining day is all of a sudden going to remember this post and slow down.

We're on a road trip through 7 western states and have seen that sort of thing all too often.

In Idaho, a guy passed us at something like 75+ mph towing a vintage Airstream about 25' long with an old SUV. You gotta know he's gonna have a blowout sooner or later. We pulled into a mall parking lot for a break and saw him there - No WDH and the tongue & bumper were nearly dragging on the ground. If he kills himself that's one thing, but endangering others on the road is so wrong.

In Utah we met a family with young kids triple towing at a stop for lunch - truck, FW & speedboat. Owner said it was 81' overall. He passed shortly after we left and he too was doing 75+ mph. I can't imagine what would happen if he ever had to make a sudden stop at speed or got hit by a rogue gust of strong wind. Technically they weren't speeding AFAIK as the speed limit for anyone is 80 mph.

Luckily it wasn't raining on my side mirrors or side window and maybe it was Chevy Silverado not a GMC Sierra. I was about to get off of my exit and did go on my way. Point is he was going to fast for the conditions and could have caused a major accident.

Raining so hard the wipers couldn't keep up yet you were able to get a full description of truck and trailer..... :H

I remember back in the mid-1980's pulling a twin axel U-Haul with my car. At about 55 the U-Haul would begin to twitch. When it began raining the twitching stopped and the trailer began pulling normally. As for the guys lights being out, he was probably unaware. It's happened to me, in fact I was pulled over once by a state trooper for no trailer lights. It turns out they'd come loose at the connection. It was another danged U-Haul! I pinched the leads slightly with a pliers so the connection wouldn't pull apart and was on my way with a warning ticket.

I've always wanted to write a book about the various U-Haul misadventures I've had over the years (and I've had a bunch!). Adventures in Moving! would be the title.

PS to U-Hauls credit they've gotten much better, back in the 1970's they were awful!

With all that rain there was no heat buildup in the tires so he could have gone even faster. :W

Why did you not report the offender to the proper authorities. I doubt the offender reads posts on rv.net so you are just posting to the wind.
I report rv'ers with broken taillights all the time. gets them stopped and gives them a break.
