You must have missed the part where the OP said the other trailer is legally parked.
What do you think will happen to the PO when he tells a towing company to tow a legally parked trailer. :E
Happens all the time.. However the fact is you and I (normally) do not know all the parking regulations and it may well be the trailer is NOT legally parked. I can not say for sure without being there, laying eyes on, and then hitting the government web site for a copy of the parking regulations.
But I know that in a lot of places. if that trailer has not moved by now it's illegally parked (So for that matter is the O/P's but he has a defense in that he can not move his trailer due to the other one)
Also, if the O/P's trailer is legally parked and was there first it may be the simple blocking of access makes the 2nd trailer illegally parked.
And there is more. I won't go into a full disucssion or detailed discussion of the parking laws in that community simply because I do not know them.. I seriously doubt the O/P knows all of them either. But it pays to do the research.
If the offending trailer is not legally parked than neither is the OP's trailer. He described storing his trailer on the street and somebody else who is obviously also storing their trailer on the street parking in front of him. So should he call the police to have the illegally parked trailer towed because it's blocking his illegally parked trailer? What happens if the police tow both?
Question: DO you know ALL the parking regulations where that trailer is parked.. If not, then you are making a fool of yourself. I admit I do not know all the rules where it's parked and thus the advice to contact those who do.
I do know, for example, that IN SOME PLACES. what is legal to park IN FRONT OF YOUR HOUSE, is not legal if parked in front of the house next door... just as an example
And since the driveway apron is normally more than 10 feet wide, I assume both trailers are parked in front of the O/P's house.
In other areas the home owner owns to the side walk, or 1/3 of his front lawn, (or 2/3) in some all the way to the center of the road.
These are just some of the laws and rules I know of, and as you see they vary from place to place.
Yet another factor is time limits.. WHat is legal for one hour, may not be for 2 days. (Again this depends on where it is parked).
I do not know the law in the location under discussion, thus the suggestion to contact those who do. Do you?
