It only takes a couple hillbillies to ruin it for everyone.

Walmart has those drains all over their parking lots... Probably too tempting to drain their tanks into one...

Dumping black or gray waste water down a storm drain is just as bad as dumping it on the ground. Storm water doesn't go through a treatment facility. It goes into the nearest river or lake!

Kind of related....I remember many years ago, a family living at the corner of my block, using the storm sewer for oil changing. Yup, they would pull the vehicle right over the drain. Yes, for real, and to top it off the father was a many year police officer.

I have encountered people doing this in two situations:

1: Austin has a music festival that rolls around. Some neighborhoods get full of dilapidated RVs parked anywhere there is room. Of course, as a farewall gift, there are a number of storm drains which smell remarkably of black water for a few weeks, especially if there is no rain.

2: In 2011, when I was looking for a travel trailer, one guy who was selling his used had his connected to his truck via motorized solenoids. This way, he could open the black and gray tanks while on the road, going a low speed so it wouldn't splash much. Found out one reason he was selling it, was that he splashed a Texas DPS (similar to California's CHP) officer's motorcycle with black water. He got smacked with a $3500 fine for it.

Always those few that ruin it for everyone else...

We stay in Wal-Mart campgrounds 40 or 50 nites per year . I never ask permission , many municipal governments will require business to post signs to satisfy local RV parks , the manager does not care one way or the other but he certainly will not risk provoking local government by giving permission .

State laws will vary but in Florida to post a property the signs must be no farther than 60 feet apart and must clearly display the posters name , most do not ! Most of these signs are furnished by a local tow company . Florida does not recognize the " purple posting signs " as some western states do .
I believe in " don't ask and you can not be told no !"

Does anybody rememberer from years ago there was a system for motorhomes called Thersman (sp). It had a maceator type pump that liquified waste and then metered in in small burst that was injected in the exhaust system and you could empty your tank as you drove down the road. I always had visions of let malfunctioning and shooting turds out the exhaust pipe . Just hope you were not on a motorcycle behind them.

We've been behind a couple or few that had septic dibbling or a slow steady drain going down the road. Assumed it was a leak.
Tried pulling along side honking horn and gesturing but he wouldn't acknowledge us. I know he knew we were trying to get his attention.
We saw one or two or maybe the same one, semi going down the road and brown something draining out two 2 1/2 inc black hoses attached to the rear bumper or whatever the big frame of steel is called. Called the THP one time but saw thee same or a similar rig doing the same thing later in Georgia on I75 South. That's been a while.

For those that don't know, Homestead FL is in Monroe County and that county has the most stringent anti RV parking ordinance in Florida. The stores do NOT have to have a sign or purple post, as it is a county ordinance. The fine for the first offense is $75 and they rigidly enforce it, usually at 3AM and then they give you 15 minutes to pack up and leave. And yes, it was using storm sewers as dumping stations, which was the last straw that brought the ordinance about, many years ago.

For the OP, there is the Miccosukee Indian Casino just a few miles north of Homestead that has a lot you can park in overnight.
