Bunk Bunk and more Bunk is all I read here. To say nothing of amateur lawyering and logic so twisted it defies description.
First of all. if one was in a major accident the trailer would undoubtedly come apart and contents strewn all over.
To prove overweight someone would have to WEIGH the trailer and all of it's contents that existed at the time of the accident and PROVE that to be the case to prove that contention. This would be not only highly unlikely but also impossible and easily killed in court by even some of the "attorneys" on this site.
Second; There is no regulation, law or even court precedent that links legally the weight sticker on the trailer to any existing law. Thus it is "Advisory" at best.
Third; There is absolutely NO PROOF by testing or otherwise that the simple fact of being overwieght CAUSES accidents. It very well may be judged, unscientifically, to be a contributing factor (if the overweight condition could be proven) but that too is unlikely in the extreme.
Accidents are caused by bad driving. Accidents are caused by drivers who dont have the skills to drive the vehicles they have purchased.
Insurance companies know this and that is why you never hear a whimper out of them about weight.
All of you that love to point a judgemental finger at every opportunity over this issue at someone who asks a question about weight implying that they are one rung above murderers on the social ladder should sit down and put your finger away (somewhere dark and warm)
