- bukhrnExplorer III"How did you meet your camping friends?"
I Married her! Oh, you said besides family, well she wasn't family when we met. :B - fla-gypsyExplorerSome were long time friends, some I met in a local camping group which I no longer participate with. They are all life long friends now.

I pick them up in CGs. It starts with a HELLO.
That is also the way we do it.. And met a member on here , now we camp 2-3 time a year together..- pitchExplorer IIThere is one couple that we will camp with, but we are mainly a solo act. Maybe we are selfish, but making plans and commitments with others just isn't our strong suit. We want to be able to shift gears on a whim. I would guess that something is wrong with us, as the things we like to do don't seem to interest other people.
I am more friendly and sociable than the Missus; come over to the fire sit have coffee and BS a while, but I don't want to see your family Christmas letter in my mailbox. - beemerphile1ExplorerWe joined the local Good Sam chapter.
- Dog_FolksExplorerI guess we are the "odd man out" on this one.
We don't camp with anyone.
We plan our trips, and travel alone.
We have always kept pretty much to ourselves throughout life.
We are "social" and enjoy groups of friends,, however when it comes to camping, we do it alone. - tenbearExplorerWe joined the local Good Sam chapter. During the summer, we have formal campouts each month and occasionally others. In the winter we have lunch meetings each months. We have met many good friends thru the chapter.
- craig7hNomad III see you are a Good Sam member, that's a great place to start. Go to the Good Sam web site there is a link for state and local chapters. Make contact with them,go to a few of there campouts you may find friends there. I do know that chapter members are a great bunch of folks.
- Opie431ExplorerWe have several people we meet by chance at campgrounds we return to each year. One man I have talked to each year over July 4th week was not there this year altho his spot was empty and paid for. I assume he died.
- rfryerExplorerI’m not into the group thing or mobs of people, so it’s rare I’d go camping with someone else. Grandkids and the son’s family are exceptions. I’ll make friends with some fellow campers and enjoy their company, but even then I don’t want to spend the whole day with them. Odds are we both have some things we want to do that don’t appeal to the other party.
