How long a camper can I (should I) tow?

And now I am hearing that a truck MUCH more capable than my 2008 Aspen, can't handle 7000+/- lbs?? I would bet my 2008 Aspen could have handled the 7000lbs with no issue, let alone the 1500. The thing that worries me is the surface area of the travel trailer catching wind, compared to the shorter race car hauler I use to tow. That was really my purpose for the thread.

So it sounds like towing anything larger than 30ft, in general is a white knuckle experience, probably regardless if you had a 1500 or 2500. Fifth wheel is probably more stable at the longer lengths.

But after I have towed 5500lbs with an SUV without an issue, I refuse to believe a Ram 1500 is less capable.

Your vehicle absolutely is capable in the power department, but you need to be sure on your numbers so you are not grossly overweight on the hitch.

Regarding length, i don't think this will matter much as long as your hitch and anti-sway is adjusted properly and your trailer is packed properly. I feel most people who have issues when towing is because of these reasons, but instead they blame it on the trailer or their vehicle.
