It was a car hauler, not a travel trailer.
Well that explains it right there. Car Haulers (and boats) tow much differently than Travel trailers. No Frontal area therefore much more aerodynamic, no tall sides to catch wind, typically lighter tongue weight etc.
1280lbs of payload is probably what your Durango had (which makes this truck comparable to the Durango and not much more capable). Heck my wifes little trailblazer has 1150. 1/2ton Dodges are notorious for low payload numbers.
You need to seriously heed the advice you came looking for and weigh your truck with the family, full tank of gas, and motorcycle.
No one likes to hear that their truck can't handle what they want it to (especially a brand new truck) but your truck could be very unsafe to drive with a bigger trailer. Not saying that you need to buy a 3500 diesel, but a 2500 with the Hemi (closer to 3000lb payload) may have been a better choice for a 33'trailer with a 6k dry weight and a dirtbike in the bed.
Not trying to be a jerk, just throwing the facts out there. Good luck!
