Let's say a space at an RV storage facility costs $60 per month. If that same $60 were applied to a monthly payment on a mortgage instead, it would buy an additional $12,000 on a 30-year mortgage at today's interest rates.
Either way, you're not going to live there for 30 years. Too many changes will occur in ones life. RV's will come & go, the house is on a foundation.
The DW has lived here for over 35 years and I have been here for 26. We have had an rv on a pad I started 25 years ago for an 8' starcraft pop-up and now my 40' Tradewinds sits on it.No cover, drained gravel,50 amp, water and a mini septic. I had to do some real work on it and the driveway when we bought the first 27' hardside trailer and had to store the 32' TT at a storage place two miles away for two months. Lost the whole battery box, even though it was tied down, had the spare tire stolen off the back and another time two tires and wheels on the same side. Oh, and they broke into the forward storage compt and used MY jack to raise the trailer.
We have looked at some houses lately and only look at ones with rv parking. 1 3/4 acres,on a hill, is getting to be a bit much for me,even though I love doing it.
