When we built our home 10 years ago in a senior community here in Arizona we were not involved in the RVing. I liked the fact that RV's were not permitted to be stored on site as the lots are not all that large and a maximum 72 hour load/unload restriction was in effect. Like the rest of the CCR's that govern our community these rules are in place to maintain and preserve the integrity and ambiance of our neighborhood. Everyone who lives here does so only with written agreement to comply with the rules. It is just that simple.
Seven years ago we parted with our boat and bought our first RV. Now on our third (and hopefully last RV ), :B I still support the RV restrictions. The streets are narrow with few sidewalks and no vehicles are permitted to park on the street overnight (except RV's utilizing the 72 hour rule), if it does not fit inside of your garage you cannot leave it parked in your driveway.
There are two large secure storage lots within the community that in addition to being out of the public view are quite reasonably priced, we pay $35 a month for a 40' slot. This area is monitored by our in house Patrol and I have yet to hear of anyone having any security issues and yes, there is a waiting list.
Would I love to have the convenience our Class C being on site, you betcha. Do I want to live in a neighborhood where anyone can park, dare I say dump and old RV on their property and blight the neighborhood.... not so much.
As always.... Opinions and YMMV.
