Easy to say when you have lost nothing. To keep the honest ones honest replace the male end with a yellow Camco D Handel cord cap and run a cable lock thru it.
Sorry you can't lock a cord. The thief doesn't care about the ends. They just want the wire. They will snip both ends if required.
While I'm not naive enough to believe it never happens. It's really not a major issue
