How to secure water fill inlets?

I don't get it, have never given it a thought and I don't think anyone else has either.

I guess no different when a year or two ago everyone wanted a kill switch on their power front jack worried that someone was going to jack up all the trailers in the middle of the night.

The places I camp I can't see anyone playing with the water.

Looking at the photo, you might be able to remove two of the screws, use a thin chain or cable with a small padlock, and make a semi-secure closure without too much trouble. This would only be effective to keep prankster children from bothering the inlet. Anyone out to get you could do a bunch of damage in other ways. Personally, I don't have a locking gas cap because the damage a screwdriver or ice pick can do to the gas tank is so much greater. I understand you concern with the water supply, some kid thinking it would be funny to pour something in the tank and all....and I have always had the inlet in a locked compartment. One thought; is there access to the inlet hose, could you attach a shutoff valve that would prevent any inward flow?

Boondocking/overnighting in urban areas. Using the RV for daily use in public places. Always parked out and about. Never in RV parks.

How about a little squirt of WD-40 in your water system just for laughs? Just an example.

An inlet like what is posted in the picture is not a problem at all . The prankster would have to have a pressurized hose to fill the tank.
Honestly that would be too much work for the average punk kid.
A gravity feed inlet would be a bit easier to tamper with. You could possibly drill the cap and filler neck and insert a pin or pad lock to secure cap.

Personally I have a lot of other things to worry about. I see no need to secure the inlet. However if you are worried it can be done.
Worst case you could add a hatch and secure connection behind hatch. The whole idea of it is a solution for a problem that does not exist.

A couple of year ago I found myself camping next to a couple of meth addicts at Dash Point state park. Didn't realize how bad it was until the wee hours of the morning when one of them woke up out of his mind.
It got interesting to say the least. Didn't know whether to leave and draw attention to ourselves or stay put.
Haven't been back there since.

Our hobby requires us to routinely park next to complete strangers from all walks of life. I don't automatically trust them and when people are blitzed they're capable of anything.

I would think that a hasp with ring and a couple of spacers would afford a way to seal up the connections. A padlock would finish the security aspect or they make hasps with a keyed lock.

So what do you think happens to the water and dirt that goes in this hole?
