Anyone ever think that maybe the OP (who hasn't responded back, maybe due to some of the ludicrous answers) isn't asking how to keep the camper from freezing up by not using ANY heat, but rather only conserving propane and battery life by bundling up while sleeping?
After all he/she did only ask for advice on a comforter. The rest of the crowd built the story into what it is now...

When I'm camping in the cold, I make filling up with propane part of the last supply run when heading out of town. Leave my driveway, stop at the store for groceries, then fill up with propane and gas on the way out of town.

One 5* night without propane because I hadn't checked the tank was enough for this lady. (I hadn't dewinterized yet, so the pipes were fine.)

my class A 'monster tank' is only 24gal, my sunday fill up was 19.1 gal for 17 days use,
many class B, have tanks in the 8 to 12 gal size

I have no Toad, i have to drive my A to LP seller
i do have a Scoot for errands in good weather

but they have a lot less space to keep warm

There is one more "slight" reason for some of us RV'ers to watch our propane use carefully - outside of raw propane cost considerations and regardless of weather conditions that require use of the propane furnace:

Some of us have Class B or small Class C motorhomes and don't tow anything. Our built-in propane tanks may be only 10, 12, 14 or 18 gallons (unlike the monster tanks in many monster Class A motorhomes). Since we don't have a tow vehicle or a towed vehicle to quickly run around in we have to break camp to go get our built-in propane tanks filled ... if we can find a place around where we're camping that will fill built-in tanks.

With a separate vehicle to run around in, one can transport the little 5 gallon or 7 gallon portable propane tanks to the many places that will fill them or supply exchange tanks.

For Class B or small Class C motorhome owners with built-in propane tanks, it's also tricky to carry along backup portable 5 gallon tanks so as to be able to use an Extend-A-Stay adapter with their built-in propane systems.

The point is - WHY? :h Camping in a tent in cold weather is one thing but for those of us who have tens of thousands $$$$$ invested in a travel trailer or 5th AND a truck with which to pull it WHY in the world would we not want to be comfortable by simply using the furnace as it was designed to be used - to keep the interior of the rig comfortably warm. If doing so means an extra tank of propane, an extra battery, so be it ... but at least you'll be comfortable. Geez. :R

I was curious when I read the OP's first(only) post in this thread whether he had any kind of generator or way of supplementing his batteries. I figured he would come back at some point and elaborate on his situation, but he has made no comment in more than two weeks of comments and suggestions. I wonder what he is going to do, and if he'll be polite enough to thank the people for suggestions, and berate the ones he doesn't care for. :)

I think spartan living and survival are hobbies with some of our esteemed colleagues.
