How to transport multiple tiki torches

Please do not use glass jars to transport fuel. You are asking for FIRE!

If you are looking for a cheap/free temporary solution you can get the cardboard boxes from a liquor store that wine bottles where shipped in. They already have the dividers, but of course if the cardboard gets wet it will be a mess. Might be a solution until you can build something better.

Personally I would throw them all away. I used to use them but since one caught fire, the head fell to the ground, started a grass fire and nearly torched my camper with my wife sleeping inside I have never used them. JMHO

Thanks for the input everyone. I really like the plywood idea especially because I think I have all the necessary parts already. But I never thought about the smell that will come from the cans even when empty. Maybe I'll have to empty the cans and place them in ziploc baggies as suggested. But I still might make the carrier so the residual oil doesn't mess up the cans, maybe a plywood holder inside a rubbermaid, that would be clean. :) I'll have to think about it for a while.

Good point donn0128, I didn't think about a fire ban. So I called the park and spoke with a ranger. She said the only ban is on ground fires which I already knew about.

The desert can burn, too. We've seen it happen from careless campfires.

Walmart sells tiki torch cans with screw on lids, I never worry about mine spilling.

This is what we use, it works great. We carry tiki torches, always have. Cannisters are always empty when we store them, we don't fill them up until just before lighting. And, they are always empty (all tiki fuel burned off) before we put them away.

Storing the cannisters is easy, harder part is finding storage space long enough for the pole/torch itself. That's what pass-thru storage bins are for. :)

Just a thought but why not just fill them when you get there?

Several years ago we found some solar/LED tiki torches and bought several. Upgraded the original batteries, and have used them for a number of years now. One campground had a rule not allowing Tiki torches, (fire danger at the time). After asking, they requested that we not use these, as others would ask why we could have them and they couldn't. We understood the whys, and were happy to comply. We did use several other LED lights around our campside with no problem. The tiki torches just looked too much like a flickering flame!

Isnt the open flame ban state wide? Plese leave them at home.
