Hydraulic Problems with older Itasca

I have a friend with an older Itasca (99) that the slides and jacks quit working. He says he can hear the relays clicking, but pump motor doesn't run. A mobil tech told him he has a bad pump. My contention is that if the motor is bad, the pump won't run and if the motor is good and the pump doesn't work, the pump is bad. He has check fluid level and says it's ok.

Suggestions:

thanks,

Ron
  • So let's go with your theory - the motor is bad. Why would you replace the motor and not replace the pump at the same time? It's 17 years old; it's due to blow the seal anyways.
  • Yeah, you're probably right. He has an estimate for $450 for the whole think (minus the tank, I guess).

  • I would first confirm power to the pump and the ground is good. Maney times you will have a relay click, but the contacts may be carboned up and no power goes through it. Second, will holding the switch, amy need a second person, tap on the motor of the pump with a small hammer, if it starts to run, bad motor.
  • What brand jacks? If HWH go to their website and download the manual for your jacks. The manual contains very good troubleshooting guides and wiring diagrams.
