This happens all over the country. I'm on the board of directors that formed over 20 yrs ago to preserve a Civil War battlefield here in southern Kentucky. After years of blood, sweat, tears, bank loans, begging for grants from state and fed, we've saved the entire battlefield in exactly the same condition as the day the battle took place and even built a $2 million visitor center/museum. In the last few years we're starting to have trespassers with metal detectors stealing artifacts, cutting down trees, destroying and stealing tour trail sign and painting graffitti on buildings and cannons not to mention illegally hunting on posted land. Hoodlums are always looking for something to destroy so all of us must be vigilant.
