I sold my Roadtrek yesterday. I asked for a cashier's check and took the check to my bank and had them call the buyer's bank to confirm that the cashier's check was legitimate.
Only after I had confirmation that the check was good, did I release the keys to the new owner. He was in full agreement with that.
Most honest buyers would not object to having their payment confirmed. If a buyer does object, I would not sell to him.
