- MerrykaliaExplorerFirst, I would place my order for a new Class A, set up trust funds for the son and his wife and nieces/nephews. Pay off bills, etc. for my brothers/sisters.
I would give my church some $$ to do some of the things we have been talking about implementing in the next few years. Set up a charitable trust to handle requests for money for charitable causes.
Then DH, myself and girls would head off on a world cruise - 120 days or so to get out of the spotlight. Homeschooling along the way, but might just take a teacher with us to do that.
When we return, we would then take off on our North American tour, traveling to all of the National Parks throughout.
Yeah, the DH and I have thought and talked about this over the years, especially when MegaMillions or Powerball gets over 200M. I usually purchase 2-3 tickets every year, so the possibility of it happening are even more miniscule than the 1 in 170,000,000. Oh well, it's fun to think about. - RoadLifeExplorerEstablish a non-profit charity or two....one for our veterans and one for Food for the Hungry. Of course, there'd be plenty reserved for our living expenses :-)
- Monaco_MontclaiExplorerI like the dx3rv
- Cloud_DancerExplorer III would commute back and forth to my ranch in New Zealand, in my own executive jet.
- VeebyesExplorer IIWe already average more than 100 days a year onboard the RV. Would not change much besides the little bit of penny pinching we do now on CGs etc. Maybe extend our traveling season. We like our 2006 truck. We like our 2007 trailer.
Never been one to splurge on frivolous things so upgrades to current trailer would be done like different air pinbox, disc brakes, full paint truck & trailer. Yeah, I know, boring stuff. - beemerphile1ExplorerIf I won the mega-millions lottery I would... set up a trust to cash the check and then vanish.
- PghBobExplorerUsually, the first thing most folks should do is meet with a Tax Attorney and Financial Planner. Periodically, papers like the Wall Street Journal and financial magazines publish stories on folks who have hit it big on lotteries only to lose it all because of lack of planning. It's amazing and scary to read. The number of folks this happens to is surprising.
Having said that, I would hit the road immediately. You are likely to lose all privacy if you hit it big, and the solicitations would drive me crazy. On the road, I will make it much harder for anyone to find/contact me.
On the RV side of things, I would probably move from our Class C to a quality 36 to 40 foot Class A, likely built to my specs. I might even consider hiring someone to drive us anywhere we wanted to go, and a chef to cook for us. I like the suggestion above regarding international RV trips.
Finally, like others, I would fund several of my favorite charities. I would give them a set amount, but would require them to use it as an endowment, taking only a small percentage annually, based on investment performance. - rockhillmanorExplorerSince I have already done the Snowbird thing and then on to a Full Time Rv'ing for several years. I would NOT buy a newer bigger MH!
Nope........
I would buy 2 spectacular houses. One in the North and one in the South and fly in my personal plane back and forth to them following the warm weather sun. Ahh, yes life would be good. :C - TvovExplorer IIAs to winning the lottery only pertaining to RV / camping...
I like my truck, but buy a new one that is exactly how I want it. No settling for a different color or interior materials.
Probably stick with a new TT... I have no problem towing, and like having the truck. May look into a 5th. Might be crazy and pay someone else to wash and wax it...
Camp MORE! Really travel the country. The USA is huge. Get to all those places I read about here in the forums - and be able to spend the time to explore them.
Look into RV'ing in England / Europe / Australia. Or that might be more appropriately called "caravaning" there?
I have always been curious about a "traditional" African safari type trip - huge tents, silverware at dinner time, that type of thing.
Who knows? If I win, I promise I'll give everyone here an update! - gboppExplorerAll the above, and then some.
