- Ski_Pro_3ExplorerI've used nitrogen to pressurize containers that had radios in them that ran for years without service. I'm talking radios built in the 40's and haven't been turned off. Ever. When I depressurized the vessels and pulled the radios out, they were as good as the day they were assembled. Including the wiring insulation.
So, I think the advantage to nitrogen is that the rubber is going to not oxidize and deteriorate like it would with just plain old air. Might not matter in a tire who's life span is maybe 7 or 8 years tops, but for those radios. They were preserved. - TerryallanExplorer IIIn truth. It is just a waste of money.
- wandering1ExplorerThat's a great idea if you want to throw money away.

I don't use nitrogen.
I just change the air in my tires once a year. Works for me. :B
Do you use regular or synthetic air :@
Hmmm. If I went synthetic, I could probably go two years. Good idea.
Just think how long you could go on synthetic Nitrogen!!! - MuddydogsExplorerMy first newer truck was a 2011 Ram with the tire pressure monitor in it and every time I turned around I was getting a low pressure warning when the temps started to fall. I would bring the tires up to pressure then within 2 weeks the temp dropped again and the warnings came back. My work truck does the same thing. Well I got tired of the pressure warning all the time and went to the local Big O, spent 40 buck on nitrogen and never had a problem with tire pressure for 2 years from 110 above to 10 below. I traded the truck this year for a 2014 Ram and will run on air until the pressure monitor system starts to drive me nuts.
As for have a problem on the road well just put air in the tire, its ok to mix nitrogen and air. - TXicemanExplorer IIIf it makes you feel good to spend money on nitrogen in the tires, by all means go for it. I don't waste my money.

My last two family cars (new) came with nitrogen filled tires. Before I sold the first one, I'm pretty sure all 4 tires were back to normal air. They say nitrogen tires are not suppose to leak or be subject to temperature changes as much as normal air filled tires. Personally, as Colonel Sherman Potter would say in M*A*S*H .... "Hocky Puck!"

Ahhhh - I think you mean - ".....all 4 tires were back to 78% Nitrogen...:B..:B
