Installing Awning Cradle Support???

Ok, I purchased an Awning Cradle Support to mitigate the slight bow in my 20' long awning.
Before I mount the awning support Awning Cradle Support I am looking for some advice on the best way to drill holes in the fiberglass exterior surface of RV. As well as if I should place any type of sealant on the mounting hardware.

The awning support comes with 4 rivets to mount the base plate. From there two holes are drilled and the support/cradle is mounted with two screws.

Installation Instructions

Any advice or practical experience installing one of these awning supports would be appreciated.

  • ALWAYS start drilling fiberglass with the drill in reverse and light pressure until through the gel coat. Then you can drill normally. This minimizes chances of spider web cracking. Use caulk under your plate and in the holes to prevent water intrusion.
