He has no problems jumping in both feet, but she just insists she cannot live with a RV toilet. There is no logic here, and no amount of talking is going to change her mind. How well do you think that would hold up out on the highway? Also consider whether the water will remain in the trap or not under road travel conditions. Another issue is the "setback" distance from the center of the drain flange to the wall. RV toilet's typically have a much shorter measurement than residential toilets, and the drain is usually not easily relocated. The most common complaint I hear from women (and some men as well), regarding RV toilets, is about the plastic "toy" look and feel of some of them, particularly the seats. If that's her concern, then have them look at a few of the porcelain bowl RV toilets that use standard residential seats. I installed an Aqua Magic Style Plus porcelain bowl toilet in our coach, and we've been very satisfied with it.

Hi,Even a low flush model will fill the black water tank FAST. It may also drain the fresh water tank quickly. In a campground with water and sewer those are not at issue--but don't expect to boondock long with a residential toilet.Look for a tankless model that uses a high pressure flush.As others have suggested this won't be an easy or cheap modification.

Yes it will work, as long as you don't drive the RV on the road or move it at all.

One of my camping buddy's, and his name happens to be Buddy has done just that in his Class A for the very same reason, the wife insisted. He bought a used big DP and the wife hated the RV throne and insisted on a residential model for whatever reason. I believe he took it to Dues in Dickenson to have it done.

He shuts off the water to it and drains the tank and bowl (uses a cleaning brush to force the water out of the bowl) before he hits the road.

Therefore, it can be and has been done.

There are some high end diesel pushers which will have a residential toilet, but be prepared to pay upwards of $250,000 for that.

And I can't believe that connection from the tank to the bowl doesn't occasionally work loose. My next Q would be...Would a wife that picky really enjoy the RV life?

There are RV toilets that work almost exactly like household toilets. We have two in our rig. The rear bath toilet is a macerator toilet, you push a button on the wall and it flushes and refills. The center half bath is a push button RV toilet, again, push the button on the toilet it flushes and refills. They are both standard home height. The standard will cost you around $200 and the macerator a little bit more.

My guess is that the wife has other issues, and the "RV toilet is a deal breaker" is just a method to avoid RVing.

I would think that if she wants to have a residental toilet she should be the one that empties the black water tank every day and pulls the blue container down to the dump station. And cleans it out.
That might change her mind if reasoning will not.
I am assuming that the amount of water used would fill up the tanks every day.
And perhaps someone shoulld explain what happens when the black water tank overflows. She could clean that mess up also.
