I believe that the story was about a couple that left to go shopping for a couple of hours and the toilet overflowed because the valve stuck. when I shut off water coming into the RV the toilet can't overflow.

Sorry to hear about that. Definitely a total loss and not repairable, unless you totally dismantled the entire thing down to a bare frame and rebuilt it from scratch - simply not economically feasible. The FW in this video only had a leaking toilet and it ended up being a total loss.

Pool, I would guess your policy is an ACV (actual cash value) policy. Most policies that provide replacement cost only do that for the first few model years but you never know till you read the policy for. You could also have an agreed value. It my bet would be ACV.

how Allstate determines their value could be simply looking at a book value. If I have a rig totaled I would look at Nada (they have a pretty good detailed way to determine value) but the one thing I don't like with Nada is they don't have an adjustment by Zip Code. After I print off that I would then look at RV Trader or any online classified listing. I would first look for your spherical rig. You might have to do a long range search to get compatibles . If you don't find enough compatibles I'd look for similar models. Keep copies of what you find for when Allstate gives you a figure.

Bottom line, they should have a value that represents what you can buy the same year, make, model with options and in the same condition, minus your comprehensive deductible.

All insurance companies have to write their share of high risk policies so that the high risk is spread among them all and no one company gets stuck with all the claims. Progressive IS NOT a high risk policy company only. The flood/water damage is covered under the comprehensive coverage, minus your deductible and possibly some depreciation, depending on the riders you selected.

Depends in part on how your policy is written. You should be looking for words like "full replacement coverage"; "guaranteed replacement coverage";"actual cash value coverage".

The best to have would be "guaranteed"; 2nd best is "full replacement", and "actual cash" is the least favorable for your needs.

You will find this info on your annual "Declaration" statement.

I agree with those who say don't accept anything except a total loss. Water and RVs don't mix!

As for insurance we went with the Good Sam (National General) 100% replacement policy. Luckily we haven't had to collect but the idea of a new trailer replacement (for 4 or 5 years can't recall which) was a comfortable thought given how fast RVs depreciate. The policy costs $260/year but let's us sleep well.

We have Allstate auto with comprehensive insurance which does cover flooding

Flood for an RV usually is not excluded, but pull out your policy and read it. I can't see anything other than a total loss when you think about soaked insulation, wiring, things like a water pump and furnace, then add to the potential for delamination and mold. Personally I wouldn't accept anything other than mine being totaled.
