It's amazing how much water we use

Ive been fulltiming for a few months now. I fill up my 85 gallon fresh water tank every 2-3 weeks.

I had a chance to look at a friend's water bill. It said they used just under 6000 gallons of water for the month.

Even if you factored the water I use when doing laundry, my consumption is SO much less. The difference is astounding.

  • The US Geological Water Science School estimates the average home in the US uses 80-100 gal/per person/ per DAY!
2 adults would be 4800-6000 gal per month
This is for all 'water activities'...bathing/grooming/toilets/dishes/clothes/drinking/outdoor use.

Prior to Full Timing our water usage was WAY below average.....2 adults
Average water usage CA Desert was 3500 gals/month

Full Timing...........70 gallon fresh water tank 2 adults 5 days
128 gal waste tanks......2 adults 8 days (approx 100 gals)

After Full Timing our current water usage has been slightly less.....2 adults
Verde Valley AZ is 2800 gals/month
  • Those that leave the water running aren't in charge of dumping the tanks!
  • Never could understand why some people will brush their teeth with the water running constantly. It take 10 drops of water to make your tooth brush wet, and a mouth full of water to rinse. Yet they will leave the water run for 5 minutes while they are brushing. Such a waste. How do I know? Well, I've spent my fair share of time in campground bath houses!
