Jeep Toad accumulate miles?

Friends of ours have a 2006 Jeep wrangler with manual trans. They are concerned that when towing 4 down they will accumulate miles. Does anyone know if it counts miles while towing? For that matter is there a general rule of which cars add miles and which don't?
  • My Jeep Grand Cherokee will show the miles because key needs to be on Accessorie to run the auxiliary brake. However, I wired auxiliary brake direct to battery so miles no longer show. Just need to turn key 1 click to unlock steering wheel.
    Oops missed Wrangler.... never mind.
  • NO worry, it has an electronic speedometer and when the key is off and engine not running no miles register. If it did my Wrangler would have MUCHO more miles on it.

X2 same here when I was towing my 99 Jeep Wrangler... Does not add miles to the Jeep when being towed. I would always use the transfer case to pull it out of gear. Some of the older jeeps had the hub locks to flip to keep the wheels from turning the gears.

  • My Jeep wrangler manual transmission has been towed since 2002. The miles do not roll around when towing. The transfer case in neutral and the manual transmission in 2nd. Just like the book says.
  • When you put the transfer case in neutral and the tranny in a gear/Park, the ODO does not spin any miles.
