Jeep Wrangler, auto trans. can it be towed 4 wheels down?

Just wondering, what year "Wrangler" are we talking about? The reason I ask is, the term "Wrangler" has been in the Jeep nomenclature for quite some time and, applies to different year Jeeps. Almost all of which are flat towable, with or without an automatic. Just wondering.
