Every time this comes up, the Jeep owners jump in trying to justify to themselves and the world why they chose to overpay for a vehicle that isn't proportionately better than any other car. My DD went through this logic when she bought a Wrangler and it didn't make sense to me then either.

Well, I wouldn't go so far as to say that. I mean, $70-$80K for an F-250?, $55K for an F-150?, over $100K for a Tesla, and the list goes on and on. People buy Jeeps (Wranglers anyway) for multiple reasons. Some just like them and have ZERO intentions of taking them one inch off road. Some, play mildly off road but, otherwise it's their normal daily driver. Some play rather harshly off road and it may, or may not be a daily driver. And some, purchase them because of the simplicity of becoming a toad, no matter what other use is intended.
We've had 9 of them in the past 35 years. CJs, YJs, TJs and JKs. Utah's Moab, Colorados Ouray/Silverton area, AZ trails, CA trails (dwindling), Montana and the list goes on. We've used all our Jeeps to the fullest extent and, ALL of them have been a toad. Surely not ONE of the nine has ever been purchased for it's gas mileage. But, for a fun driver, hardy capabilities and multi-use vehicle, it's a top player for sure. Again, if it's too much money, don't buy it. One doesn't have to be college educated figure that out.
