Keeping stuff from sliding on countertop?

I use lots of clear plastic tubs of varying sizes. Delicate objects get wrapped in towels or washcloths, placed in a small tub, then the smaller tubs go into larger tubs which are placed somewhere where it won't shift around much (like a cabinet or overhead compartment.) My vacuum goes under the dinette table. The only thing that is Velcroed down is the digital clock that I stuck on my refrigerator.

The advantage of this method is that at most an object moves only a few inches within the tub. Another advantage is that if something does break, spill, or leak, the mess is well contained.

It does take some work with set up and take down, but I don't want to do any permanent modifications, as I'm eventually going to be selling my current TT or trading it in.

Hot glue.

I used velcro on the walls and desk in my Bighorn...removed every single piece without any damage...it can be done, you just can't be in a hurry.

When I was looking at used RV's I ran across a ton of them that when you opened the door all you saw over all the walls were the permanently mounted half of the velcro strips and/or permanent tape all over the RV.:R

I passed on each and every one of them because of it.


So, something to think about whether you want to take the nano second it takes to move counter items to a secure area for traveling or permanently stick velcro tape all over your RV. :W

We use these gizmos from CW to hold the coffeemaker in place. Hasn't moved a bit since installation & we have a RK.

When wife was alive we cleared the counter tops.. For one thing in a sudden stop SHE was in "Front" of the counter and anything flying might hit her.. I am protected from getting hit in the back of the head by a nice sturdy Exterior WALL (the "Front" end of the main slide out).

Today.. I leave several things on the counter.. I use non-skid stuff (that expanded rubber mesh) and so on. And of course some things are up against a bulkehead (Splash panel) that is firmly attached. I have not had a problem doing it this way.

And I've had some fairly seriously shakes and bumps (Pot hole, type shake ups.)

We clear our counters except for the small Tupperware container used to store small items in, sits next to stove so doesn't slide much. My son left a glass of water on our table last year and amazingly it was still on the table when we got home, two hour drive, and not a drop was spilled.

I don't leave things on countertops. But then, in a motorhome, it is not so much about sliding around as it is something flying at my head in a short stop or a crash.
