Keeping stuff from sliding on countertop?

Hi everyone. We just got our Flagstaff Shamrock Hybrid. It has a huge kitchen counter. Does anyone have a great idea for keeping things from sliding around while in transit? Like a small coffee maker or canisters?
I was thinking maybe velcro stickers but I am afraid it will not come off the countertop.

  • agree with peglw.

Have some large ceramic animals (decorations) that we put down years ago and they've never moved.
  • I use floral putty! I have a couple of small dabs on the bottom of a big knife block on the kitchen counter and it never moves. Small dots of putty are on the bottom of a lamp on the dresser and a clock -- haven't moved in over 30,000 miles all over the country. I also put a dab on the back of hanging wall art and it keeps them from bouncing off the contact hooks. I don't have to store anything when we move! Floral putty is easily removed with no residue. I learned this trick from a motorhome fulltimer of 18 years.
  • I plan to make an actual border (out of cherry molding) to hold the things you mentioned. We like to make it as easy to move from site to site as we can, and that means packing away as little as possible when we move. This is not a big deal, but every little bit helps.
  • Seems to me that nothing will hold during an unexpected emergency stop, quick turn, etc. We leave nothing on the counters or table. All goes into cabinets, in the sink. I don't think I have ever seen this question. Did you have a previous camper? If so, what did you do then?
  • we take ever thing off. The Cameo with Mor Ride suspension and Morride pin box is very smooth but still don't take chances. Just no worth it.
  • Put them on the bed while in transit. Put them on the counter when not moving.

Why do they need to stay on the counter when you are traveling? It's not like anyone is in the trailer during that time... ;)

    Good luck!

  • We use what's called Easy Liner Select Grip. It's a rubberized plastic mesh grip. Bought the large 20"W x 24'L rolls of it. Use the dark grey material on the counters under things like the Kleenex boxes to keep them from sliding. Use the same thing, but in white, in between the bowls and some other dishes in the cupboards. Also works good for wrapping around the wine and rum bottles under the couch. Lot's of uses for it.

  • I thought those non-slip rubber mats would help...nope! After reading on here, may people recommend museum wax. You will not be disappointed with this stuff.
