Keeping the Awning Clean

Cleaning it I can do, I'm looking for a way to keep the rain out of it when not in use. Has anybody used anything that works, other then a garage?

I use two of these Lowes rain gutters. Work great, just don't forget to take them off before driving (don't ask how I know...) I have a string tied from them to my door handle so I don't forget. Protects from sun and rain, and cheaper than professional awning covers.

Can you elaborate a bit please. This would fit the bill as being simple, cheap, and not there when I want to use the awning.

  • Never considered it a big deal - couple times a year I will apply a spray that has some bleach in it and roll it up for an hour then rinse - it cleans up easy.
  • I never use mine, because I don't sit outside. I'm either gone all day or sleeping.
  • There are commercial awning hard covers and some folks have started using the large black acordian style drainage pipe and painting it white. I scrub mine down by hand with Tilex one a year and then use the brush after that for cleaning.
  • My awning has the metal wrap around cover and just sitting through a rain with the awning retracted, the awing is fairly wet when I extend it. I retract it when thoroughly dry, park it, next trip out the awning is wet. I have to wash it often. Wish I had a solution. Good luck.
