Kidde Fire Extinguisher Recall Do you have one in your RV?

Received my 2 replacements today. Took 3 weeks from when I called it in. One word of CAUTION... No one told me they had to be sent back when new ones received. I disposed of the first one since I had brought it into my house and after I gave the rep the serial # and model # I threw it away since the recall was because of a FATALITY from the nozzle blowing off and killing the user. The 2nd one was still in the TT.
when you receive the one or ones, they enclose a return Fed Ex label with instructions to ship it back prepaid. They are only getting one from me. Reps should have instructed callers to hold on to it!

Who's responsible for the extinguisher check and recertification? Have you ever read the instructions that came with your extinguishers? How about when one need recharging? What's that tag attached say? I don't know where you are or what type business you're in, but you better hope and pray you never see an OSHA inspector. If you do, I hope you have a VERY deep pocket because it's going to cost you, A LOT. Same goes for an inspection by your insurance carrier. I was a registered Safety Engineer for close to 30 years and this is basic, basic, basic information. You can call it whatever you want, but you are WRONG.

The powder in the extinguisher settles and the entrained air (or nitrogen) leaves the powder, this lets the powder pack especially if in a vehicle, but also just hanging on a wall. This packed powder will not flow so the extinguisher doesn't work. You squeeze the handle and nothing happens. If nothing else call your local fire department and LISTEN.

We have probably 75 fire extinguishers between our fab plant and on site locations and never once have I heard that a fire extinguisher needs to be shaken to remain viable. We recertify fire extinguishers every year.

Even if a fire extinguisher needed to be shaken, one would think traveling down the road would provide adequate agitation.

I call BS on this.

I had 2. Got one about 2 weeks ago, and still waiting on the other. Different sizes though, so they may be shipping out of different locations. Or maybe more demand for one size than the other. With nearly 4 million extinguishers affected by the recall the logistics of this has to be pretty daunting.

Can't imagine why Fedex would get tired. Getting paid to deliver things is what they do.

FedEx showed up tonight with a new Kiddy fire extinguisher. We called about three weeks ago and a new one showed up. They said we would not have to send the old one back but it came with a return label to return it. Now kind of strange as we reported three units that needed to be replaced (they agreed) and only go one tonight. So two more to receive. Me thinks FedEx is going to get tired of delivering and returning these.

Well, I have 4 coming hopefully.

Got one last week, one today. You would think they would ship them all at the same time.

Got mine today, when I called FedEx about returning the old one, the CustomerSupport rep said “Is this another fire extinguisher?”

Just got the second extinguisher from Kidde. This one was ordered over the phone and took 8 days. This company has it's "STUFF" together. I'm done.

Easier to do by phone. Then you get a live person and a confirmation that its taken care of. Did mine yesterday. Took about 20 minutes for all the info and model # and done.
