Kudos to Campers Inn for doing the right thing
I bought my first 5th wheel used from Campers Inn in Kingston NH a month ago..
A 2007 Jayco Eagle 325BHS..
Super clean, great condition.. Did the walk through and the only issue
we found was the hot water heater blow off valve had a very slow drip.
They replaced that right on the spot and I took the camper on a weeks vacation a couple days later..
While we were on vacation, I noticed a couple more things.. both of the big windows in the slide
were tight and the trim was coming off one of them.. Also, the front stairs had a bent
hinge at the top so there was a little bit of 'give' to the stairs if you put all
your weight on the bottom step to the left. The front dead bolt needed to be
better aligned as well as it was a bit sticky.
When I got back, I made an appointment to have these things looked at..
When I dropped the camper off Tuesday, I noticed one tire was low on air so
I also asked them to check on that and repair as needed..
They called me this morning to tell me the items on my list were completed no charge,
but that the tire needed to be replaced.. it was going to be $250 as it is
a load range D tire. When I asked if the tire had a nail or something in the sidewall,
the service guy said no, there was some dry cracks between the treads and that
they couldn't find any actual puncture, so the loss must be a very slow leak
due to the tires.. Well, I expressed concern that I was sold a camper that had
such an issue and asked to speak to my sales rep.. Dave listened to what I had to
say, and agreed to talk to the sales manager about replacing the tire at no charge..
I told him that if one tire was in that condition, then the other 3 were not far
behind and what I really wanted was 4 brand new D range tires at no charge to me..
I also said I didn't want some no-name asian tires, but I wanted quality tires..
He just called back to tell me they are replacing all the tires at no cost and that it will
be ready tomorrow morning. I'm glad I didn't need to escalate anything, and
that they did the right thing without a hassle. I did look at the tires when
I bought the camper, but more for ususual wear or tread depth than little cracks
between the treads.. lesson learned there. The tires looked brand new at a glance.
So.. I'm happy to report that they stood behind what they sold, even 7 years old and used,
and took care of all my requests without any major push back or expense to me..
