Ladder racks

Looking for a rack for my 2 bikes and noticed someone mentioned using a ladder rack for their gravity chairs, which I thought was a great idea. Anyone using 2 racks? One for gravity chairs the other for bikes??

  • Thanks for the input! I'll be starting out with bikes either in my van, or trailer. If I get to a camping world I may take a look at the racks. On this first long trip I'm going to be carrying my brother in law's canoe on top of my van. If I wasn't that's probably where I would put my bikes. I think that's what I may do in the future after this 1st trip with the canoe.

    Appreciate the thoughts!!

Would not think of even hanging a aluminum ladder on one! Have you ever followed an fellow RVer with a bike rack on the back of a trailer, and wondered how the bikes stayed the rack???

My thinking was that it holds my weight so I should be able to hang that much on the ladder, right? Only didn't take into act any movement that would weaken the ladder. I'm not an engineer. How much weight can you safely put on a ladder?

  • For previous posts on this subject search this Forum for `ladder' then search the results for `bikes' and read on.
  • There is an extension that moves a hitch above the propane tanks. It's pretty expensive, anyone with experience with this??
  • I have a ladder rack I used to use for my bikes on my mh. Bikes are heavy and can cause the ladder to twist. I have stopped using my ladder rack for the bikes.
