Which area - just don't want to overlook an area next time I'm there.
We have seen this a number of times....at Ft. Stevens State Park in Oregon....maybe even that one.
Just on the beach at the Peter Iredale and Area 2 (I think).
Also enjoyed driving on the beach at Long Beach.
Do I need to add that it was the GC and not the MH? - azdryheatExplorerI understand the wife won the RV in a divorce settlement and the husband told her to "come and get it".
- jmtandemExplorer IIActually it is very easy to understand how this happens. But you have to be there and the pic does not show it all. It is Pismo in California. It is not photo shopped. There is a creek that is crossed to get to the farther camping spots. So crossing water is part and parcel of that access. And sometimes the RV is so heavy and so much drag in the sand that the truck in 4x4 can't get it out of the creek bed and then the tide comes in and, well, this happens. It is clearly not an isolated incident; it happens often enough.
- dodge_guyExplorer IIAnyone can look up high and low tide times! Looks like someone didn’t do that!
I’m from the Midwest and even I know better than that! - Tyler0215ExplorerYeah, but, he's got four wheel drive. They can go anywhere.
- Grit_dogNavigatorI’m not too skeered to drive most anything, most anywhere. But Big @ss trailer behind little truck, in the sand, NOPE. Not it.
- 3_dog_nightsExplorerObviously, not enough truck and wrong hitch..........
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIHow it happened.. The tide goes out. he parks, The tide comes in. And OH !!!!!
- JAC1982ExplorerYup I was going to say that looks like Pismo LOL. My guess? it was the area where the water comes out to the ocean that gets too high to cross in a normal vehicle at certain times of day. This guy probably tried to cross it and then got swept into the water.
Or, like already mentioned, the tide came up and pulled him in a bit.
Or, he was trying to turn around in a tight space and backed up a bit too far.
We also saw people getting stuck in the sand similar to this at Lake McConaughy in Nebraska. Out there they have a company with John Deere tractors to pull people out. - downtheroadExplorerWe have seen this a number of times....at Ft. Stevens State Park in Oregon....maybe even that one.
The local tow truck operators make a fortune pulling cars, trucks and entire rigs off the beach..people just can't seem to get the concept of high tide.
