- discovery4usExplorerPismo beach or Oceano State Vehicle Recreation Area has 999 available reservations per day and during the summer they are sold out. We were over there a couple times this summer and a set up like the one pictured accounts for about 500 of the campers over there. While this does happen it is extremely, extremely rare. On a typical weekend 800 trucks and trailers and MH pull in and out and down the 7 miles of beach with no catastrophes.
Not sure how he got in that position but a guess would be that he tried to back the trailer towards the water to get turned around and backed to far. Lots of campers camp right down on the high tide line making it difficult for people to drive up and down the beach and almost impossible to get turned around. - John_WayneExplorer IINothing to worry about it's good clean salt water what could go wrong.

wait for it..... - hawkeye-08Explorer IIIWhen the beach is flat, the tide can really cover a lot of beach in a hurry.
- drsteveExplorerYouTube is full of vids of guys with Class A MHs, big toy haulers, etc. who do not understand ocean tides. Pretty entertaining.
- Campfire_TimeExplorerI'd love to see more of the outcome of this. I think these photos have been out there for a while. Lots of photos out there of other RVs getting stuck out there. Here's another angle.

Which area - just don't want to overlook an area next time I'm there.
We have seen this a number of times....at Ft. Stevens State Park in Oregon....maybe even that one.
Just on the beach at the Peter Iredale and Area 2 (I think).
Also enjoyed driving on the beach at Long Beach.
Do I need to add that it was the GC and not the MH?
Yes, there is a beach entrance/exit right there near the Peter Iredale but it was always very soft sand. Next entrance/exit is about 5-6 miles south. Although that stretch all the way down to Gearhart was always a no overnight camping area on the beach... doubt it has changed. I would not put a RV on the sand there as the high tide line can get very close to the dunes. - tdillerExplorer4 wheel drive just means you are further from civilization when you get stuck
