credit/ debit card use in a laundry for such small purchase does not work out. the only one who will benefit is the credit card co. The system and technology is there, but what about the transaction fee and % charged to the camp? Thats .40c for us on a $2 wash charge. Still .40c on a $1 dryer
Golden HVAC's Quality reference to commercial laundries makes good sense for longer term or regular users,not for short term visitors.
Rarely are the card 'charge up' laundry machines you see owned by the camp, they are placed by a vendor who pays the camp a % of income for the location the same way as a vendor placed, serviced soda, ATM or arcade game.
That camp has no option in refunding unused load on the card. This is very common in long term areas, apartment complexes, etc.
With coins, you know what you get.
