- GMandJMExplorerAnyone concerned about someone handling their laundry can tape a sign to the machine that says "If landry has finished before I return, please call me at (phone number)"
No note = take out the laundry for them so you can use the machine.
Back when we used CG laundries, we must have left one of our signs on a machine. Several months after we'd left that CG, I got a call telling me my laundry was done and the washer had stopped. :) - NYCgrrlExplorer

If you're not there when the dryer is done, or at least courteous enough to leave a note when you'll be back, I'm taking it out and using the machine if it's the only one available.
Here's another pet peeve. If there are six washers in the laundry room, do you really need to take all six of them?
I've never needed 6 machines simultaneously that I can recall even when my kiddos were young although things get hectic on NYEve if I've been sloven.
Still, first in, first out, is the general rule. If I needed all the washing machines I'd use 'em. On the other hand whoever came after me would be happy about the amt of dryers I don't use. Not a believer in "baked clothing" for the most part. - OhKayeExplorer

I like to leave at least one, and let someone get in at least the load that contains what they want to wear soon. :) - salemExplorerAfter waiting for well over an hour, the CG manager told my wife to remove the clothes in the dryer. A short time later the woman who owned the clothes showed up. I thought her head was going to spin and green stuff come out of her mouth. Oh, the look she gave my wife. I'll bet she was on time the next time though. Some women are sure picky about who handles their underwear.:)
- RRinNFlaExplorerI know CG laundries may be a little less formal, but every laundromat I have ever been in has a sign posted "Do not leave your laundry unattended".
I say no grace time. - colliehaulerExplorer III

X-2 I just set the clothes on the folding table.
"It's Laundry" Yep, nothing more, so if some one isn't willing to wait until theirs is done, then within a couple of minutes if no one empties the washer or dryer, it's fair game for the next person. There is absolutely no way to know when they will return. :) It's selfish to expect others to wait until you get back. Just our opinion. :) - NYCgrrlExplorerSame etiquette I use in my apartment building's laundry room, LOL. Haven't owned a washing machine since my kiddos were young and have never owned a dryer.
If the clothing are dry and no one is around I put them in an avail bin or on the folding table. If the clothing is in the washer and finished then into a bin they go. No waiting around for someone to come get their stuff 'cause obviously I'm busy too:W. Also in general no attitude from the person who is late; did them a favour and they don't have to bend down to pick up their clothes.
Never seen a laundry room confrontation. Hope it's all good clean fun though......... - 3oaksExplorer

If all six are vacant and nobody else is preparing to do their wash at the time, I see nothing wrong with using all six. Public laundry rooms are first come, first serve. Why would I use less machines than I needed if they were not in use at the time? :@

- Jim_ShoeExplorer III know its easier for a single guy like me, but my wardrobe consists of a load of whites and a load of colors. Colors are jeans and colored T Shirts. Drying always take more time. So I take a lawn chair with me and a book. Then sit outside and read, checking the machines every so often.
If all the dryers are full when my washing is done, I don't have a problem unloading a dryer into one of the rolling carts. There's no excuse for leaving clothes in a dryer. They all seem to have signs reading "$.50" for 10 minutes or something. Wear a watch.
