Lawn repair after rv drove on yard?

Live in washington state and we have had a ton of rain in the last week. Im buying a new rv and i moved my fence back a few feet. It is a virtual mud pit behind the house.

My queston is where do i even start?? Im putting a few pavers in the front fo the trailer to roll back on so i dont since into the grass, but how do i repair the mud pit?

Do i have to wait until summer till it all drys out? I was thinking of waiting until it dried, then using an airator, then adding some sand and reseeding? I have no idea.

Here is a pic.

  • Do you want the "golf course repair"?

While the soil is wet, spread a higher phosphorus fertilizer (starter fert). Work into soil lighly. Broadcast peat moss on the surface to a depth of 1/4". Broadcast grass seed that is suitable for the location and a covering crop seed (rye grass or clover). Lightly rake seed into peat moss and top-most soil surface. Tamp. Cover with clean straw and keep watered.
  • Throw down some grass seed and stomp it back in place before it drys out some.
  • If money is not a real issue, you could excavate the area about 12 inches deep, fill it with gravel, and top it with pavers. The gravel would allow time for the water to percolate into the soil.
  • Does the area stay soaked much of your winter?
Did you get cold enough to get any frost level? Ours went down about a foot before it warmed up. It left top soft but still frozen down about 6-12 inches.
It may be necessary to dig down and put in some drainage. Then build back toward surface with good drainage material before putting grass back in.
  • This is a great product for having both a stable driveable surface and grass.

You're lucky that the RV didn't disappear below the surface.

    Turf-Stone
  • Rake it smooth while it is still wet. When it dries to where it doesn't gush water when you step on it, Seed it with a shade loving grass. It will still die under the RV unless you move it a lot. (Hint, this is your excuse to keep it out of there every possible weekend.

  • Is that part of the driveway in front? Why not fill with limestone rock?
  • It sounds like you have the only plan in place. There is nothing else that you can do until it dries out. Then as you said break it up and reseed. Why not just go camping until it dries? Just kidding. Good luck.
