Lazy days in Florida

Well thanks for the info L&G's, I just put a deposit on a Livin Lite Axxess 26 footer, was wondering if I made a mistake or not, seems there is an 80% chance I am not but I have not taken possession of the Axxess yet. Fingers crossed.

They must be doing something right; they have 283 service bays and always have a line waiting for service.

They are a large dealership with a very large sales volume. If they were not reputable, the state attorney would have put them out of business by now.

Because they are large, with many different sales persons, finance and insurance pushers, and low-level managers, with turnover in staff, each client's experience will be different, some happy, some not happy.

I prefer to deal with small family-owned dealerships, but then I have to deal with what is happening at one of my favorites: Pop is retiring, nobody wants to take over or buy the business, thus ongoing support from that business is now gone. But the big guys sometimes go under too, mismanaging finance or failure of their business plan to keep up with market realities.

I would not go to Tampa from out of state just to buy from them, there are too many good dealerships closer to home. But if I lived in Central or South Florida, this is one of the places where I would shop, just for the variety they will have on location.

Love the campground, newspaper, cleanleness, free breakfast and lunch, inclosed pool, and the location was great for visiting the in-laws. Never used the shop but the store has a lot of good bargins.

Several of my coworkers have purchased there and are very happy. They still return for annual maintenance and stay at the campground. They also changed owners a few years ago so that may account for some negative feedback in the past. I think most of it comes down to a salesperson that is looking for a sale today and not a repeat customer down the road. I try to deal with tenured staff when possible.

There are several dealers within a couple miles just east of Lazy Days.

I bought my sixth travel trailer from them this past January. I will say the experience was like no other I've had. A definite mixed bag. We picked our trailer up on a Saturday and did't plan on spending an entire day, but we did. I will say the delivery person was thorough and the two service techs were willing to do whatever I needed them to do--adjusting hitch, installing friction sway, checking setup etc. They thought it odd that we were not going to spend the night on the lot before leaving. Time frame was arrival at 8:30am departure at 4:30pm. Now the odd... When we purchased our salesman and financial guy were both very careful to make sure my truck was capable of pulling the trailer. I knew it was as I was downsizing, but I appreciated their attention to detail and my safety. The couple next to us in the delivery lot were trading up from a pop up. Their tow vehicle was a Chevy Avalanche, no WD hitch, no brake controller. They had purchased a 30 ft travel trailer. They had never towed anything nearly that size before and were unaware of the basic equipment needed. I had a long serious talk with the couple, showed them my hitch, sway and brake controllers explaining that what I had was what most would consider to be the minimum equipment required to tow. I also had a talk with the service techs preparing their trailer and told them I didn't think they should let him off the lot with what he had. Of course lazy days sold him a very nice but over priced Blue Ox hitch and a brake controller. I still believe they were way over capacity for their TV, but felt I had done what I could.
This shows two vastly different experiences from the same dealer, so I guess it matters a lot who you talk to and how honest they are with you at the time of sale. I personally was impressed until I met the couple beside us. I have been absolutely satisfied with my trailer and after seven trips I like it more than after the first trip. I had one issue: they forgot to include the emergency crank and clutch for the power tongue jack. After a call, the. Service dept. next day UPS'd to me so I'd have it for the first trip I took.

We bought a new TT from Lazydays and our sales rep really encouraged us to stay the night in the unit before leaving to try out everything. I thought this was great! We ended up finding a few small things that they took care of the next day before we left. I can't comment on the service department (never had to use them) but the sales experience was great. Would definitely purchase from them again.

In 2004 they tried to sell me a used MH as new. Never disclosed that tid-bit of info until time to close so I walked. If they tried to pull that what else would they do? Bought exact coach in Ala. NEW for $20K less.
Some folks have a good experience with them, I did not.
