Let it snow!

85 degrees in sunny Arizona right now! Absolute perfect....

Not only does the fish taste better, but ice fishing is more challenging and fun! A frozen lake is not just a barren chunk of ice, it's a playground for those who appreciate the cold winter season.

Around here, lakes have "neighborhoods" where the best fishing spots are. Some of the ice fish houses will rival the nicest campers in amenities and comfort. Price too! Some are shacks fashioned by high school kids with hammers. Then they paint them in all kinds of crazy designs to ATTRACT the sun. These winter campers play frizbee, have campfires, grill and watch football via satellite TV, all out on the ice. You can even have pizza delivered to your ice fish house. If we dress right, the cold factor isn't an issue. The biggest thrill is waking up in the middle of the night to a thunderous boom which is just the ice making more ice.

It's addicting and takes the edge off the anticipation of waiting out the winter for summer camping.

We hope to get a bit more fishing in yet before lake freezes. The orange survival suits are waiting to be worn.

So well said! Cold water fish and seafood is soooo delicious and firm and warm water fish and seafood is more like oatmeal and sucks! Tastes horrible and has the texture of a mushy CARP! Even fresh warm water fish always taste muddy and that's one big reason we can't stand catfish or southern crappie and bass etc. Warm water lobster (clawless) taste nothing like the great tasting cold water lobsters and southern crawfish are simply nastily fishy and leave a foul taste in your mouth for hours.

The colder the the water fish and seafood live in, the better they taste and it's so obvious. The difference is like night and day! I couldn't agree more with pitch.

No guessing about it, I am definitely in the wrong place. The military brought me here and my current career has kept me here. One problem is I have 10 more years to go in my job for a decent pension but the biggest problem is that my wife absolutely loves it here, so as much as I would like to move back east I don't think it's going to happen.

It is snowing right now for the first time here. It's melting as soon as it hits the ground. South of us it's sticking around a bit.

I will camp with travelnutz and loulou. I love the 4 seasons. My dd lived in Valdosta, Ga. for 5 years. We went down for thanksgiving 87 freaking degrees! She spent her entire time down there going from air conditioned house to air conditioned car to air conditioned mall. What the heck kind of life is that.
While we my have a week or so of really terrible cold,it is no big deal. You can't ice fish without winter, if you ever eat a nice firm white perch caught through the ice,you will never eat one of those mushy warm water pieces of crap.

There is lots of corn standing here still. It isn't unusual though. I have seen it harvested when the ground is frozen and no snow.

Sad thing is we saw a farm that still had about 300 acres of soya beans to come off....could be a loss there.
