Let's get cooking! But keep getting skinny

We have read many posts on the use of a George Forman Grill in the RV. We are wondering which one you would recommend. I did a web search and the reviews on the models are all over the place in respect to what models are good and bad. I have lost over 80 pounds in the last year and follow a low fat diet. I think this would at least help reduce that fat level. I still love a good steak, all be it very small. I went through a lot to go from 265, down to about 182, as of Wednesday. 10 more pounds and I can change my forum name to Skinny Boy. It feels soooooo good.
  • We are on a healthy diet as well. I have the cheapest version of GF grill (fits 4 chicken breasts)...And it is fabulous!!
  • Congrats on the new health! I'm sure you feel like you're much more able to *enjoy* life now, including RVing.

We have a Cuisinart version of the same thing...it can be set up flat as a griddle, can be a panini press, and it has removable plates so we can use flat ones or the ones with the raised grill lines. And it has adjustable temps, too.

We used to have a Foreman but it didn't have those options. I'm sure a newer model does, and we really like the flexibility in how we use it. I'll lay it flat to make pancakes for the kids, then make whole-grain and fruit pancakes for us. Then we'll swap the plates and make chicken breasts for lunch.

I think this one was on sale at Kohl's so the price was about the same as a Foreman with fewer options in the other stores.
  • I've tried 2 different sizes of Geo Forman's grills and one knockoff Hamilton Beach. We went HB because GFG didn't have removable plates that flipped out for cleaning at the time.

Since we've been fulltiming, I switched over to the Flavorwave oven. Had one with plastic cover and gave it to our son and went with the version that has a heavy glass bowl.

Still easy to dispose of the grease and while it's heavy, it's more versatile for cooking multiple things. It gives us juicy steaks or burgers from frozen in just 20-22 mins. Plus, I can make chicken dishes like Chicken Picata vs just grilling meat only night after night.
  • My DH bought a George Foreman grill that has removable plates and we love it, both in the house and the motorhome. I've fixed burgers, pork chops, steaks and salmon fillets in it. Haven't used the griddle part of it yet.
  • I was very unhappy with my large George Foreman grill. Clean-up was difficult.
They've come out with one that has removable grill plates. They are even dishwasher safe!

I bought the new RED one with the removeable plates and I love it. I use it all the time - so much easier cleanup now. It is the one I would recommend.
  • Which diet you eat last year George Forman Grill when you lost over 80 pounds..

Look back and think about the last years diet plan..
