I live in Indiana and my truck is a 3/4t with a 9k gvw sticker on door. It is currently registered as a 7k gvw, but was at 9k in the previous years. My renewal next month will cost me $60.75 as it is now 10 years old and value for excise tax is now low. I can pull any weight I want to and not be checked. If I owned a 1/2t I could register it with farm tags at 11k if I wanted to and nobody would care. Buy the way I believe 11k is the smallest farm tag. The agri based company I use to work for had the Chevy van I used,with a 7800gvw, registered with an 11k tag. I assume it was for insurance and other business reasons.
