What is it about "Your vehicle can be towed behind a Motorhome." found in the Honda Fit Owner's Manual do these people not understand?

If that dealer cannot be trusted to know the truth about dinghy towing the Honda Fit, what else can you trust them with? Go to a competent dealer or show the lunk the owners manual.

Well we had decided on a Honda Fit and we just got back from the dealership without one. They told us a Honda Fit can not be towed 4 down and is only recommended on a tow dolly for emergency towing only. They said towing 4 down will void the warranty. They said the only Hondas that can be towed 4 down are the CRV and the Oddessy, both are too heavy and out of our price range. I told the sales manager at the dealership I see lots of Fits being towed four down. His response was they voided their warranty then. He said if one comes into his service bay they will not honor the warranty or take one in on trade if they know it has been towed.

I guess the search goes on... Thanks for all the feedback. I am still open to more opinions and advice.

Does anyone have a list of cars that can be towed 4 down? Automatic and manual? We are looking at getting a Class C and a car to tow behind it.
Another option would be to get a dolly right? Can anyone give us the pros and cons?

Does anyone tow the toyota Yaris??? we looked at this but the Toyota sales rep and his service manager said no toyota can be towed 4 down or on a tow dolly. they need to be on a full trailer. I didn't bother to follow up at another dealership... does anyone tow a Yaris?

I would say not to buy anything from that dealership. They are totally wrong on that.

I agree, that Fit is just so HUUGGGGE! Just never use the back seats and I read a thread somewhere that a kid in Tahoe uses it as his motorhome - sleeps in the back. :)

Gotta admit I liked the fit. (My niece has one). If we ever need a back seat again it's something we would consider. The only other down side is its not available as a convertible. Great little car though. Just a little too big for us.
