Yes, I guess pushing would be a problem. Then I'd just leave the darn thing on, which I do anyway.
Likewise not on my oven. The thermocouple for the pilot, which requires holding the knob in and shuts off the pilot gas completely should the pilot go out, is a comparatively recent innovation (within the past ten years, more or less, I think).
