That's exactly what I do. I aim the fan in the bedroom so it's blowing not directly on me but just over my head while I sleep.

I agree...the battle with the little buggers for some of you is about to begin. We don't have many skeeters out here in the arid west but after a lot of rain it can happend.

I do agree some "smelly stuff" can help for a while but don't actually kill them or keep them off for long.

The best natural way to keep them away is wind or a large fan. An 8mph+ breeze can keep them from flying. That's why carrying a fan on a stand is a good camping companion! Also folks need to stay covered...flip flops, shorts and tank tops just make people human food trays...cover up with light weight long sleeved shirts and long pants, shoes and socks, put on a hat and sit out in the wind. Add some DEET and you are better protected!

For body use the higher the percentage of DEET the better in my "Don't bite me" life. I never buy less than 30%. Since I worry a bit about long term use of DEET I buy the wipes so I can apply only where I want. For textiles like tents/screen houses, clothing, awnings, this product is worth every single penny:

I agree. Deep Woods Off is my go-to when we are camping at Skidaway Island SP, which is surrounded by coastal marshland. I swear, the mosquitos there rove around in harpoon-carrying gangs; they attack like the Crips and Bloods! They love Skin So Soft! Can't say about Listerine, but I'm pretty sure they drink that stuff on Saturday night at the Knife & Gun Club.

Nope, give me DEET and plenty of it when I go down to Savannah (or anyplace on the Georgia coast!)

Had a friend that needed to use Listerine...he could chase anything away..

best way to keep the skeeters at bay is to stay indoors or at least 100 miles away from any nat water source. (that is under 150F).

and yes i love the place so quiet. nobody around. you can do what ever you like as not even the park police go out there.

but you MUST pack all out with you. including the ashes from your fire pit.

Take your wife with you and have her stand down wind. She will draw most, of them. Absolutely true. A couple ,of blondes, work good too.
Grand Ma showed me a little green and yellow plant, in the woods to rub the sap, from, on me to keep them away. I have no idea, now, what it was. Hopefully I will stumble on one again.

Avon skin so soft and Dr Bronners peppermint soap here! That peppermint soap seems to work good for ticks also.
