Last time I checked Directv will not allow you to temporarily change your service address. (been awhile). Also when we had a stick house and asked about DNS (east coast west coast feeds) we were told we couldn't "mirror" our home service and would have to pay for 2 complete packages (double the monthly fee) FCC rule). So we decided to just use over air signals. If you have analog TV's you can buy Winegard converters to digital for each TV. That's what we did. Now that we full time, we still get over air signals. OK if you're near a major city. If you boondock lots, you will want the DNS on Directv.
Interesting. Dish allows us to get our exact home pkg except for locals, anywhere, at a cost of an additional $7 am month which can be turned on and off as desired one month at a time. For $13 a month we can get the dns network stations but are only supposed to do that when actually traveling, not at home. Dish lost a court case about that several years ago.
Changing our service zip code allows us to get the appropriate locals anywhere in the US. This past trip we used the $13 a month for the dns option but will not in the future. For the little we used it, free is better. - BobboExplorer IIII just raise my batwing antenna and get the locals from wherever I am parked.

We use the DirecTV AM-21 off-the-air tuner. Costs $50 or less (look for deals) to buy, no additional charges. Uses the DirecTV DVR to record the local shows just like anything else. Really slick. Takes about 10 minutes to configure it for a new location. Gotta be in a location where your off-the-air antenna works. We use the Winegard batwing with the UHF kit. Works with most modern DirecTV receivers.

- georgelesleyExplorerWith our dish network satellite service we can just go online and change the service zip code to where are at the time. 15 minutes later we have the locals wherever we are. I suspect Direct can do the same thing. BTW it is free to do.
- jnharleyExplorerSome people have had issues with DirecTv when changing their service address too often. We have the DNS service since we are full timers and receive both east and west coast feeds (NYC/LA) in both HD and SD. This way, we always have the major networks available. Does cost $20 per month extra but worth it to us.

You can't receive your locals but you have 2 options for the networks via DirecTV.
1. Call DirecTV and have them change your "service" address to the address where you're currently located. Leave your "billing" address unchanged.
2. File a DirecTV RV waiver and pay $15-$20 a month to receive the east and/or west coast networks anywhere in the US. You'll have to mail a copy of your RV registration to DTV along with the RV waiver.
We'd had the east/west mobile service from the beginning over 10 years ago. We love it and use it at home too--DirecTV doesn't mind. It is great to watch shows at different times but you must get used to living by the east/west time zone. However, with today's DVR...we record many shows and watch then when it is convenient for us. - Tom_NExplorerYou can't receive your locals but you have 2 options for the networks via DirecTV.
