I was the victim of a hit and run car accident. Very little damage was done, and I had witnesses who got the license number of the car. I called the police, and they came out to look at my vehicle. They said that since no real damage was done and no one was seriously hurt, they wouldn't bother to pursue it. I suspect you would have about as much luck trying to get them to dust your dump valve for fingerprints.
