Low wattage and lightweight. Fan free because of allergies.I currently have a 300 watt from home depot, fits in my pocket. But it is made with a bare exposed element on the top, so is very dangerous. I set it in a breadpan and cover it with a grill, and check it obsessively, but still...I'm thinking there must be something better for me out there.

It's not tiny but, how about a flat panel heater? You can mount it on a wall and it's out of the way.I believe they are 170 watts up to 400 watts.

Your best bet is probably an oil filled heater. Something like this Optimus H-60

Hmm... the flat panel heaters are an interesting idea, but not for this application. !5lbs! I'll keep them in mind for a future project, though. I like that they come in a range of low wattages.

Check out the radiant heaters on Ebay.
I have this one. Works great. Light weight. 2 settings..400 watt and 800 watt.
