- DutchmenSportExplorerrvten,
It's OK to loose interest in hobbies or activities after a while. When we were younger we enjoyed the hiking, swimming, physical activities when the kids were little. Now that we are older, we only want to vegetate around a campfire. And sometime, just vegetate in front of the television and forget the campfire. Kids grown, gone, grand kids too far away, just me and the wife and the more physical it is, the less we want to do it now. I completely understand, and I don't think you have any "mental" problems.
Because we live in the country, park the camper at home, we use the camper a lot throughout the week. Sleep in it, work from home in it, enjoy it right there. The thought of the 'work' to hitch, travel, park, unhitch, set-up, and then reverse to come home... well ... face it ... that's physical labor. But we both really do still enjoy the camper. We still go, it's just not as exciting any more.
Maybe you take a different approach. Provided your camper is at your home, go out and spend a few nights in it, and just enjoy it at home. Maybe like me, you're just getting too old and too tired for the physical demands it takes. So, why not just enjoy it RIGHT there where you're at! Try it. See if that helps! - bigwheelsturninExplorerwe're gettin ready to sell the house..stay hither and yon..that one that says..Be Healed is funny..
it's somewhat scary..to do this..but my husband wants to get rid of all but the motorhome...so we'll volunteer @ Florida state park nxt winter...just to get the 4 months free..then...we'll just hafta throw caution to the wind...& go..
good wishes for your decision to do whatever you need to feel good.. ;-) - rv2goExplorer IIThomas, Hope you decide to stick around for a while longer. You are one of our senior members on the forum and have been RV'ing for a while. If you have spent the winter in Crossville, weather wise, I know that could have been depressing. Spring is on the way. A good time to go camping. Lots to enjoy in East Tennessee in the spring. I sure miss the Dogwood and Redbud blooming.
- TxTigerExplorerI have thrown myself into hobbies over the years. Full blown at first and enjoy things to the max. Then things change, including your interests. I loved restoring classic cars for many, many years, but then just lost the fire in the belly as they say. I still have a few classics in the stable but haven't even started one in over two years.
My fishing years were similar, but I don't worry about it. I have known many people that as they age they just feel safer and more comfortable staying at or close to home. Nothing wrong with that. Who knows, tomorrow you may get interested in something that will keep your attention for many years.
I enjoy using my RV and particularly enjoy the people I meet. I don't tow it much as I keep it where I like to take my motorcycles and ride. It's been there for a year now.
You might try some easy trips that don't take a long time to do. If the wife likes to take charge, let her get the coach ready and let her drive. Get some good books and relax.
Best of luck with whatever you do. - WyoTravelerExplorerI can understand. Sometimes I have to get inspired in projects and hobbies. I know my dog loves it at home. He can run and play. No leashes or being left alone. I guess it all is where we live, our hobbies etc. When I can shoot a pheasant or elk off my back porch I hesitate driving 70 miles to Yellowstone Park where I would be packed into a tiny camp site with hundreds of other people. I can sit on my porch and watch the same wild life pass by here. I guess if I were in a different situation living in the city I would be champing at the bit every weekend trying to get away. Doesn't mean we don't enjoy reading RV.Net. I would probably do that even if I sold my RV.
- Dutch_12078Explorer IIIThe OP appears to have lost interest in a lot more than just the RV, judging by his posts here. The lack of interest in the RV is just one symptom. I hope the doctor can work some magic for him...
- Caveman_CharlieExplorer IIYou must not have been doing it right. Could be caused by a number of factors. #1 Spending too much time and money worrying about things and not enough relaxing at the park enjoying life is one of the biggest mistakes I believe people make. #2 Going to the wrong type of parks is another but, that is often caused by #1. #3 hanging around with the wrong type of people is another then they talk you into doing #1
To each his own, I can't wait for nice warm days when I can go to my local county parks. Relax read a book, take the dogs for long quite walks, swimming in the lake, fishing, and just taking it easy. I find it stress relieving after spending all winter cooped up in the house just going to work and trying to stay warm. - ol_Bombero-JCExplorer

Sold our RV last year.
Took a nice cruise and spent some time in warm Florida this year.
No regrets.
We sure don't miss Rv parks. had forgotten how nice a good hotel can be.
Don't forget to check for bedbugs!..;)
Along with "goducks10" - same thoughts - there *are* other choices!
Hotel, motel, B & B, cruises, vacation home/cabin at mtns a lake or river, - couch potato or rocking chair on the front porch.
Drive the remote!..:)
A guy I know spent a lot of years in the same profession as I did. Due to work schedule, easy to be frequently gone in the RV during that career - with lots of "like minded" folks.
(I had every third week off -actually 8 days- along with 35 other F/Fs!)
No RVs for him anymore. He and his wife are dedicated "cruisers".
Probably more "been there, done that" info on cruises than a travel agent!
Old and decrepit?
They both walk/jog several miles every day when they're not on a cruise.
Whatever rings the "owner's" chimes!..:C
~ - Deb_and_Ed_MExplorer IIOur RV is a big white elephant, too - only 'cause it's buried in snow...
But I understand that some people just don't see the fun in RVing - my sis-in-law admits that she'd rather fly somewhere and stay in a hotel. Which is probably good - keeps that industry in business, too.
Sell the RV and take your wife traveling!
OK - on edit, I see you don't want to travel. And your wife does. How about trading the "A" on a nice little B+ for her. You can stay home and tend house while she joins "Girls On The Fly" (a camping and outdoor recreation group for women)?? - 2012ColemanExplorer IIThe OP lives in a state where it is harsh winter. What he is suffering from is called Seasonal Affective disorder - SAD. No joke... He doesn't need pills or thrarpy. What he needs is sunshine.
OP - take a trip to south Floria if possible, and feel better!
