LT Tire Longevity on TT?

I'm in the camp that says no to Michelins. Besides the cracking issues, some can be hard to balance (per my local tire dealer), and I've seen problems with premature wear, even when rotated religiously. Plus the premium price. No thanks.

Michelin had cracking issues with a couple of their LTX line of LT and P tires in certain plant codes and certain year models (example; LTX A/S and LTX MS2). Not all seven lines of LTX tires has that issue ....nor does all 70 different lines of Michelin tires have cracking issues.
I've had trouble with Goodyear tires over the years ...but I wouldn't say all Goodyear tires are junk or they all have issues.

Canada Michelin must be different because they last forever up here! Have them on my trucks and suv's!

All made by the same company with the same quality control, or lack there of. Sometimes. Companies rest on their Rep, Stop progressing, and back slide, and think their rep will carry them. Don't always work

LTX MS2 on my truck and trailer all cracking within 3 years of purchase. Michelin said they were "acceptable". No more for me, cost per mile too high and poor C.S.

The bombs that were on my landscape trailer from new were totally rotten in three years. I replaced them with Kumho 857’s and they look new after eight years.

I plan to run my LTs 7-8yr. 3yr is crazy... Thats like changing your oil every 1000mi.

Between year four and five on these Kumho 857's ("commercial LT", marketed as "trailer tires" in north america ) on this travel trailer I'm in right now. No cracking, and still have more than 1/2 their original tread depth. Approx 40K to 45K miles.
I don't cover any of my trailer tires to keep sun off them. I've got too danged many trailers that are being used at odd times to be messing around with tire covers. I'm sure covering them is a good thing, but I'm just not gonna do it.

Have run some Michelin tires on a few of our cars over the years, including on my grand-daughter's Ford right now. No cracking. Have also run a few sets of Michelins on street bikes in years past and did not have any cracking issues.

Another side note regarding these 857's. They are running at about 45% of their rated load in pounds. But still, I run them at sidewall max ( 65psi ). Some folks would argue I am running over inflated, and therefore should be seeing a classic wear pattern indicating over-inflation. However, they are wearing exactly evenly all across the tread face, and all four are wearing the same amount. Again this is after 45K miles of use.

Your mileage, inflation and cracking, may vary :)

Of course we know this isn't true as not all Michelin tires have cracking issues even in their P line up or LT line up.

So which line/type of Michelin tires did you guys have cracking problems on your trailer. This can help others in not making the same mistake in choosing the wrong tire for their trailers.

Mine were on my truck, and ran every day, and still cracked in less than 3 years. again. In this part of the country. They have a really bad rep for cracking. the dealer I get my tires from. warns us about them. And he will sell you any brand of tire you want. Just takes a day or so to get them.
