Maintaining Dinghy Battery

I am in the process of getting a new dinghy and would like to have it wired in such a way as to maintain a charge in the starting battery when we tow.

The problem is that our MH is currently wired with a 4 pin connector. Is there a way to get constant 12v power from the MH through the 4 pin? (perhaps by running with the headlights on at all time).... or should I just have the MH rewired with a 7 pin connector?

As you can tell, I am a novice at wiring. Would tapping into the tail light wire to charge the dinghy battery even work safely?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  • Depending on the rig, you could locate a 12 volt constant source on the rear of the rig. My genset is in the rear, so I tapped it for a source for satellite. Same could be used for charging toad battery.
Could use compartment light that is switched in compartment.
Use a separate two wire connector for charge circuit.
Make sure you install fusing for circuit.
